Dr. James M Baggs
Veterinarian

A native of West Texas, Dr. Baggs was reared on and around ranches and animals of all sizes and types. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture Degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2001. In 2006, he graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University. Before moving back to Bryan to take over West Villa Maria Veterinary Clinic in 2007, Dr. Baggs practiced large and small animal medicine near Corpus Christi, Texas. Dr. Baggs takes a special interest in Orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery. In addition, Dr. Baggs is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennie, and their three children (Jarrett, Jackson, & Jessie).

Professional Memberships: Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA), Brazos Valley Veterinary Medical Association (BVVMA), and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society.

Dr. Elizabeth Ford-Johnson
Veterinarian

Dr. Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 2010 and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She met her husband, Dr. Kale, in 2014 while working on a small ruminant research project.

While she has primarily focused on small animal general practice, Dr. Elizabeth also has two years of experience in advanced reproduction for small ruminants and cervids. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, baking, gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching sports with her husband. She also loves spending time with her two dogs, Dude and Pigeon.

Dr. Zoe G.D. Kolkhorst
Veterinarian
Kristen Norris, CVPM
Practice Manager

Kristen has been an important member of the West Brazos family for more than ten years. She started as a technician during her undergrad years and now has a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Texas A&M. Kristen acts as both technician and practice manager, providing compassionate care to both pets and owners. In 2020 Kristen became a credentialed Certified Veterinary Practice Manager and an active member of several Practice Manager Associations. As our resident reptile enthusiast, she has taught the staff a great deal about reptiles and is the main reason Dr. Baggs has been seeing reptiles for the past several years. When not at the office Kristen enjoys working on her country home and spending time with her two children Luke and Lexi.

Lisa
Client Care Specialist

Lisa is our newest receptionist, moving here from Kansas. Although new to WBAC, Lisa has been working with animals for many years including working at an animal shelter and working at a dog training and boarding facility. Lisa enjoys hiking, swimming, spending time with family and travelling. Something very interesting about Lisa is that she enjoys cultivating golden oyster mushrooms!

Ashlee
Client Care Specialist

Ashlee is a 2023 Texas A&M graduate with a bachelors degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. She has a special interest in exotic animal care and has over 3 years of experience working with big cats. Ashlee enjoys reading, watching true crime documentaries, and spending time with her fur babies. Ashlee has 2 standard poodles, Styx and Ellie, and a sweet rescue kitty named Cleo.

Karen
Client Care Specialist

After many years of taking care of the WBAC computers and equipment, Karen has officially joined the team as our newest receptionist. Karen started her career in veterinary medicine and then ventured into a lengthy career in information technology. Returning to veterinary medicine has brought back so much joy, and she is looking forward to meeting all of our wonderful clients and patients. Outside of work, Karen finds joy in cultivating her garden, caring for her reptile companions, and cherishing moments with her two grandkids.

Shelby
Technician Supervisor

A 2021 Texas A&M University graduate in Wildlife and Fisheries Science, Shelby is actively working on earning her LVT and CVPM certifications. She plays a key role in ensuring the clinic runs smoothly throughout the day and takes great pride in providing exceptional care for our patients. Outside of work and her studies, Shelby loves spending time with her four-legged companions: her dogs Rory, Dallas, and Whitney, and her cat Toulouse.

Ashley
DVM In-Training Class of 2025

Ashley is a 2020 TAMU graduate who majored in Biomedical Science and Entomology. She is also starting her journey through vet school at Texas A&M and is looking forward to her career as a veterinarian focusing on care for exotics and birds. In her free time Ashley enjoys hunting, fishing, painting and taxidermy. At the clinic Ashley is our exotics guru and takes a special interest in all things birds and reptiles. Ashley has her own personal zoo including Kevin the prairie dog, Cosmo the coatimundi, Worm and Noodle the ferrets and Blue the coon hound. Ashley also has several reptiles including those that she rehabilitates and adopts in conjunction with a local rescue.

Jonathan
DVM In-Training Class of 2026

Jonathan is a graduate of Texas A&M majoring in Biomedical Sciences, and will be starting at A&M Veterinary School this fall.  In his free time he enjoys disc golf, ultimate frisbee, reading, and spending time outdoors. As an avid outdoorsman Jonathan especially enjoys hiking and spending time exploring new areas. Because he spends so much time in class, exploring the outdoors and playing disc golf, his perfect pet is his betta fish Finley.

Emily
DVM IN-Training Class of 2028

Emily is is a 2024 Texas A&M Biomedical Sciences graduate, with a minor in Entomology. She is currently continuing her education at Texas A&M Veterinary school and hopes to continue working with small animals. Emily grew up in New Jersey where she spent time skiing and horseback riding. She has enjoyed her move to Texas, but takes any chance she gets to visit her family, pet guinea pig Nibbles, and two poodles named Bogey and Briar back home.

Kyndra
Veterinary Technician

Kyndra joined the WBAC family in 2021 after moving to the area from San Antonio. Kyndra brightens up the clinic with her cheerful and animated energy. In her spare time Kyndra loves to spend time with her two goofy dachshunds Nixon and Constantine.

Leila
Veterinary Technician

Leila is 2024 Texas A&M Microbiology Graduate.  To further her education, Leila has began working towards her LVT and hopes to become a licensed ultrasound technician. Leila is currently a Certified Veterinary Assistant who speaks French, Spanish, English, and a bit of Mandarin.  She enjoys spending time with her three golden retrievers named Sammy, Tanner and Callie.

Teagan
Veterinary Technician

Teagan brings a wealth of experience to our clinic, thanks to her upbringing on a farm where she developed a deep connection with animals. Her passion for animal care shines through in her work. When she’s not busy at the clinic, Teagan loves spending time outdoors with her Red Lacy, Bella and caring for her beta fish, Moby.

Dalton
Veterinary Technician

Dalton is a 2024 Texas A&M Biomedical Sciences graduate. He plans to go to vet school and work with small and exotic animals. Spending a lot of time in California, Dalton enjoys surfing, swimming, hiking, and anything to do with the beach. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and watching old movies. He has no pets at the moment, but is hoping to add one to his family very soon!

Madi
Veterinary Technician

Madi joined WBAC in the spring on 2024. She is currently pursuing a degree in Animal Science with a science concentration. She has grown up around horses and dogs and always wanted to be involved in animal husbandry. She enjoys reading and being in the great outdoors!

Alexis
Veterinary Technician

Alexis is currently a student at Texas A&M University majoring in Animal Science and minoring in Biomedical Science. She plans to attend Veterinary School to focus on large animal and equine sports medicine. Alexis grew up around cattle and horses, and showed livestock for 10+ years. She currently helps families in her hometown of South Texas, and remains heavily involved in the stock show industry. In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, watching movies, and spending time with her Australian shepherd Maddie.

Sierra
Veterinary Technician

Sierra is currently a student at Texas A&M majoring in Wildlife and Fishery Sciences. She plans to attend Veterinary school to focus on small and exotic animals. Sierra grew up on a farm in upstate New York and had a zookeeper for a dad so she has always been surrounded by animals. In her free time Sierra loves to read, travel, participate in campus activities but most of all spend time with her little, fluffy pomeranian Dolly
